Traveling with Mom on the East Coast

My mom is the best and traveling with her is like going on a getaway with a best friend. Recently we decided we needed to brush up on our history here in the U.S. and explore more of the East Coast. We flew east and then traveled with Amtrak from Boston to Washington D.C. Mom and I loved traveling by train because there was no stress of getting there super early, no long security lines and you got to pick your seat when you were onboard. The trains were always on time and there’s freedom in walking around, you can get a snack and they even have free wifi! The convenience of having the train stations in the center of the cities makes it very easy to get a quick cab to your destination. If you travel First Class, you can store your luggage in the lounge if you are just having a quick stay.

Here’s the TOP 3 things to do in each city:

BOSTON

  1. Walk the Freedom Trail
  2. Eat a Sandwich at Sam LaGrassas
  3. Have a Tea Party

PROVIDENCE

  1. Walk around the city and visit Brown University
  2. Go to Newport, Rhode Island to walk the Cliff Walk
  3. Rent Bikes and ride along the water

NEW YORK CITY

  1. Visit the top of the Empire State Building
  2. Take the boat to Ellis Island and around Statue of Liberty
  3. Go eat and explore at Chelsea Market

PHILADELPHIA

There’s so much to see without traveling outside of the U.S. I encourage you to consider making your own #AmtrakStory with somebody you love! Here is a list of all the journeys you can embark on: AMTRAK ROUTES
